Turn on two-step verification
Add a code from an authenticator app to your sign-in, and keep backup codes in case you lose your phone.
Before you start
- An authenticator app on your phone.
- Your password, if you sign in with one.
Steps
- Open your profile menu and choose "Profile & settings", then open Security.
- Find "Two-step verification" and choose "Enable two-factor authentication". If your account has a password, type it in "Your password" first.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or choose the option to enter the key manually.
- Save the backup codes now. They are shown once and each works once.
- Type the 6-digit code from your app into "Enter the 6-digit code from your app to confirm" and choose "Verify & enable".
- Choose "Done".
What you will see
- The panel changes to "Two-factor authentication is on", with "Regenerate backup codes" and "Disable".
- From then on, signing in with your email and password asks for an authenticator code on a "Verify it's you" screen. Choose "Use a backup code instead" if you cannot get to your app.
- Google and passkey sign-ins are not asked for the code; only password sign-ins are.
Common problems
"That code did not verify."
Check that the clock on your phone is set automatically; the codes depend on the time. Or use a backup code.
Do I have to turn it on?
For agency users it is optional. Only the platform's own staff roles are required to turn it on.
Does it unlock card authorization?
The Security page and the "Payment authorizations" checklist in Trip settings list two-step verification as one of three checks. Payments in CloudCape are Stripe payment links; the app does not collect or store card details.
